中学から高校にかけて吹奏楽部でテナーサックスを演奏する。ジャズやプログレッシブ・ロックとの出会いを通じてインプロビゼーションの楽しさを知り、大学進学とともにジャズ研究会に所属、ジャズの演奏を始める。

学生時代からさまざまなイベントや飲食店等での演奏を経験し、地元である群馬に帰郷後は、自身のリーダーバンドやさまざまなバンド・セッションに参加。

現在は県内を中心に、都内や千葉のクラブ・ライブハウス・イベント等でも演奏活動やレッスンを行っている。

Yasunaga Akutsu (YasAct) is a tenor saxophonist based in Isesaki, Gunma, Japan.

The tenor saxophone came first, in the wind ensembles of junior high and high school. Jazz and progressive rock brought improvisation, and jazz playing began in earnest at university, as a member of its jazz society.

Back in Gunma since then, YasAct leads a band and plays in a wide range of groups and sessions — mainly within the prefecture, and also at clubs, live music venues and events in Tokyo and Chiba — and teaches.
